Mr. Robert Michael Mullins, Jr. ("Bob"), passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on September 12, 2017 in Houston, Texas, just four days shy of his 90th birthday.

Bob was born September 16, 1927 in Rye, New York where he lived until he graduated from Rye High School in May 1945. Bob enlisted in the United States Navy the day after graduation and served his country in the Pacific during World War II. Afterwards, Bob graduated from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY, in 1950 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, where he was a member of the Gaelic Society. Bob's professional career included a banking institution, Sinclair Oil Corporation and Shell Oil Company, from which he retired.

Bob wed his sweetheart, Joan Catherine McAneny, on December 26, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York, after meeting her at Rye Beach. Taking long walks beside the ocean became a lifelong favorite pastime. Bob and Joan moved to Houston with their four children in 1971 where he became an avid Houston Astros fan, a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Catholic church where he volunteered many years at the Food Pantry, and drove for the Shepherd Park Plaza Neighborhood Patrol. Bob's two most important passions were his family and his faith. Beach vacations to Destin, Florida and Christmas holidays in Houston, both with the entire extended family, were the highlights Bob most looked forward to during the year. He will be remembered as kind, gentle, patient, with a wry sense of humor, a loving father, generous and proud grandfather, and faithful friend.

Bob was predeceased by his wife, Joan, in 1976. He is survived by their four children: Robert (Kim) Mullins of Houston, Texas; Clare (Scott) Kothlow of Denver, Colorado; Joan (Alex) Fahrenthold of San Diego, California and Ann (Mark) Herzog of Houston, Texas as well as by his five grandchildren: Eric Kothlow, Grace Fahrenthold, Clark Fahrenthold, Julia Herzog and Jack Herzog.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at Pat H. Foley & Company, 1200 West 34th St. Houston, Texas 77018. The funeral mass will be Tuesday, September, 19, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3600 Brinkman St., Houston, Texas.

The Mullins' family wishes to thank each of Bob's caregivers for their compassion, and especially their dedication to his well being and comfort the past two years. Any donations made in his memory are requested to be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org . Thank you Bob, Dad, and Pa for the memories. We love you.
